Pick on Calvinism in one of MY threads, shall you?
The linchpin of Reformed Theological thought resides always in the Sovereignty of God. God is God and we are not. We may occasionally be lost on the "when" of when we were saved, but we are always dead straight on the idea of who saved us, a concept that folks who focus on do-overs often miss.
We can see plainly that sin is everywhere, committed by everybody. We also see the image of God, shown in literally every human being. I happen to think Calvinism holds both nicely in tension, rather than just discarding one in favor of the other.
If you haven't already, try reading Calvin's Institutes, rather than getting lost in the mess that Calvinists made in the centuries following his death.

The word used for "sin" in the New Testament is ἁμαρτία, which means "to miss the mark."
