There's alot that I could type in as a responce, but seeing as how I don't want to "sell" you on anything
I'll give you some homework. One of the best things about this site (and wotmania) was that the people here tend to be those who like to read.
So here's some homework. Get a Bible...with a translation that you understand and are comfortable. Ensure that this Bible isn't published by any specific church, but instead is printed by a publishing house. And then flip to New Testiment, and read Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It shouldn't take too long. If you're in the mood for a much more....alegorical?....thing, read John as well. This will be a very good starting place to answer many of your own questions.
Things to note:
-Jesus said "I and the father are one". In other words...Jesus is God. This is a *major beef* between Jesus and the religious leaders of the time. This was the excuse that the jews gave the Romans as to why Jesus should be executed. Note that the Romans found no fault with Jesus.
-Jesus was far more concerned with each person (individually) getting right with God. How this is reflected in each person is different...as a person's sins are, well a persons. Some people are liars, some have sexual sins, some have greed or pride or whatever. The point is that each person has to take ownership for their own sins, and ask God to forgive them.
-It is stated many times that works (good deeds) are not what gets a person salvation. It is through Jesus' blood shed on the cross that we are saved.
Lets start there. But if not...we can talk more.
