I don't know how you draw that distinction or what criteria you place on it though. And arguably, there are plenty of people in major mainstream religions for whom it is a religion of convenience and not something they follow out of belief in it ;)


I agree - there is no easy way to work out how to distinguish, I was thinking of people claiming belief in an existing religion for the same reasons as being part of it and even harder to deal with. Luckily I just get to mouth off about it on the internet and not do anything about it in practice:P

No because if she doesn't have to wear it then she (or her parents?) are making a choice to and so she can follow the school dress code with out going against her religion.

LOL, I think I would too. Along with those religions where parents keep minor children from receiving proper medical treatment.


Yes, even more so on that one. Parents who would let a 5 year old die because they don't believe their religion allows the life saving treatment do really make me angry at them.
