Not alienating his father seems to be what he's getting out of it. He isn't the most self-sure person out there, so I think part of the problem is that he doesn't feel comfortable making a definitive stance. He's too nice, and really laid back.
Clearly what he's getting out of this is a free maid. He has probably always had a free maid.
It's not exactly a bonus.
I disagree, I would love such a bonus!

However, if the place is clean, and the guy is home, he can suggest to dad that theygo have lunch in the now freed up time.
