The toys are a novelty and so they are intrigued. However, these toys generally do not capture their attention for very long. As they grow older, the toys have less and less impact, if they were ever even the main goal.

In my experience, I don't think I ever ate at McDonald's/BK until I was around 10/11/12 and when I did get one of the happy meals, the toy was rather underwhelming. And no, I was not that kid who had all the toys that everyone wanted to come over to play with. Quite the opposite in fact :D
