I am well aware that in your eyes the only possible action China can pursue in any case is the most evil possible. However, those of us who prefer to reside in reality view their actions in a somewhat more rational light. I daresay that I'm just as familiar with Chinese policy as you are--perhaps significantly more, considering several of my grades depend on it.
It turns out that China doesn't have the strong religious motivations agains homosexuality that the vast majority of the signers do. I doubt their one-child policy is the reason. I wondered what their motivation was: whether it was political, cultural, or something else besides. Unfortunately, "BECAUSE THEY'RE EVIL" is not valid reasoning in the real world.

chandra covered it well: In China, the different is the enemy of the people. This isn't about jingoism, currency valuation or whose flag flies over what territory. How often do I complain about Brazil or India? Chinas rulers are not nice, and while Western, even AMERICAN leaders are far from perfect, I'd still much rather they call the shots than China. I've been criticizing US foreign policy since before you were born, so please don't talk down to me about two years of studying. If that made you an expert you'd be conducting diplomacy instead of reading about people who do.

Pretty appalling, but also rather unsurprising on who voted which way. *NM*

As noted, the difference is we don't execute people for it, nor condone those who do.
