I hate the whining excuses for teachers who do nothing to protect their charges and then start up their sniveling handwringing when students take matters into their own hands. If there's a bullying problem at your school, fix it.

Sorry. Pet peeve. I have a lot of respect for teachers who do their job, and a lot of contempt for those who don't.


I hate to admit it, but I'm one of a shrinking number of teachers alas who do step up and try to protect all involved. I had to break up a fight in my classroom on Thursday that was much more than just pushing/shoving. Thankfully, I was the only one injured, with a bloodied nose and a strained lower back. I hate seeing bullying and the violence associated with it and I do intervene if I detect any of that around me.

Unfortunately, in this particular case, this took place outside, where there might not be adequate monitoring. Those usually are the places where fights/bullying take place.
