He's kind of going to extremes. Will just 1 male dog really be able to go all over the world and impregnate all the stray female dogs? Most likely he's confined to a single neighborhood.
Think of it from the perspective of individual responsibility. If you have a female dog and you don't spay it you'll be the one who'll be responsible for taking care of her puppies. However if you have a male dog if the dog ever gets out you have no idea if that dog impregnated some stray female dog somewhere. The point is, you are responsible for those puppies and you have no way of knowing if they even exist.
Now, I'm not saying I even agree with spaying and neutering in all cases *but* if you are pro spaying it makes no sense not to also be pro neutering. It's like vaccines- it's wrong to rely on everyone else doing it and giving you the herd immunity.

Louisiana has a bit more on its plate than adorable animals.

No doubt, and I respect that; it's tightening the budget by killing animals that bothers me.

Feral dogs are dangerous and destructive. It's not really an option.

I don't know that they are, at least, not any more so than feral cats or feral teens.

how many people are mauled by house cats?

Me, for one; I don't have complete stats on everyone though.

About as many as it would've taken from a Cocker Spaniel or a Chihuahua.

It is animal control not planned parenthood for dogs

Interesting how that comparison keeps being made....

Yes, it is easier to kill animals than have them roaming the streets.

I'm fairly upfront about my opinion of the value of human life vs. animal life, yes.

Well, we differ on this, certainly.

You also have to consider pack animal behaviour.

And stray dogs probably spend most of their lives starving. Hardly pleasant for them. *NM*

Except that we don't have millions of stray terrorists on Americas streets.

a vasectomy would probably cost more than neutering but still be simpler than being spayed
