What's wrong with large and fun?

The expense. And I wouldn't feel that strongly about most of the guests - why should I pay extra to have them there?

God that sounds horrible. Having to uninvite people... Why are they assuming they can just show up? How are you letting them know?

It's an aunt and cousins. The problem is that I didn't intend to invite my whole family, and these particular cousins probably really don't want to go, but their mother would try to bring them anyway. My grandmother told me she (aunt) was planning on being down there with them. To be honest, I don't even like that aunt and wouldn't invite her if I thought I could get away with it. I know it will cause drama though, so I plan to let her know that she will be invited, but not the cousins. I'm only inviting one cousin, and that's because she's a best friend also.

Family oriented means that it was mostly family, or that it was for people of all ages?

Both. It was just very laid back and happy. Kids were allowed, and it was sunny and warm and nice. Just a good time.

That sounds nice. And not having to entertain tedious people will probably greatly increase your enjoyment of the event as well. Although I get the impression that lots of weddings are barely fun for the people actually getting married.

And I'm a jerk. I want to have fun and not be stressed, so I refuse to let myself be put into a position of just inviting every person who feels they should be there.
