The manipulation here is blatant. I am disgusted when either side uses these tactics.

For the most part the right is objecting to the double standard, not claiming Hoffa was encouraging violence but rather that every time a conservative uses 'combative words' there's a media flash fire. It hasn't even been a year since many people, including many on this site, attempted to blame the acts of a mass murderer on political figures of the right for using language far less combative than Hoffa's.

I don't think that he was advocating taking them out with mobs weilding ballot boxes. Pretty sure he was talking about taking them out by using the right to vote. Duh.

Doubtless so, although in Hoffa and the Teamsters case there is actually some room to think twice on that, there's has not been a history unblemished with violent or underhanded behavior.

things in a way that will let them get on a soapbox and be self-righteous in everyone's face. I didn't have a fit when Palin said what she said or when Perry said what he did. The reaction to those was just plain stupid.

It pisses me off no matter which political party or group with an agenda purposely lies or edits things to make anyone look like they said something they didn't. It makes me furious when someone in real life does it. To me that is a slap in the face. When people do that they are basically telling everyone else that they are stupid and will believe whatever is laid out and the worst part is that most of the time they are right. People will jump to believe the worst about others. Can you tell this is a hot button issue with me?
