My point is that we (Americans) aren't even acknowledging the real problems, let alone trying to fix them.

But you're smart too, clearly (just in case you also like hearing it).

I don't disagree with the above at all. I just think that springing it on existing customers was always going to cause an uproar - individuals who started their accounts there because they didn't have some kind of fee shouldn't necessarily be punished because the bank offered them accounts that could lose money. If the bank wants to change the policy now, they gotta deal with the backlash.
