Even though the thing they hate most about Obama is his federal implementation of a "healthcare plan" Romney invented and said he would implement federally (and now says he would repeal his first day in office.) At the end of the day, this is why the Tea Party will amount to no more than the Reform Party did: Because when push comes to shove far right Republicans will still vote for a moderate or even liberal Republican over ANY Democrat, and reject a third party vote as a tacit vote for the Democrat. Partisanship trumps ideology in the GOP whether or not anyone wants to admit it; their base will ALWAYS show up, which can make victory as simple as making sure the other sides base does not, whether by telling it the election date has changed (a classic I was shocked and disappointed to see Huckabee dust off recently) or illegally purging them from registration lists. The good news for the country is that means the GOP establishment will NEVER allow an extreme right candidate: That needlessly sacrifices moderate and independent votes just to "secure" far right votes never in jeopardy. The last far right Republican presidential candidate who RAN on the far right was Barry Goldwater; the last one who SUCCESSIVELY ran that way was Calvin Coolidge.
