don't get me wrong I am not calling for a moderate random thoughts Send a noteboard - 20/10/2011 04:02:01 PM
Just that we inned to get a little more intelligent about how we vet our candidates and that the press should take a more constructive role in the process. I also think that the people who want more depth are making a mistake when they want detailed position plans. Those are useful but not as useful as past performance as an indicator of future performance. If you want to bring radical change that is fine but you need to sell it honestly and you need to show you have a history of successfully bringing that sort of change. Why should we believe you can accomplish something grand if higher you when you have no record of grand accomplishments? Pretty speeches and interesting sounding plans are not enough. That is one of the reasons I wanted Hillary over Obama and the reason I am very worried about Cain. He has accomplished some interesting things when he was the CEO and owner of company and could make all the decisions but he has no track record of being able to pass legislation and implement policies when he can't just fire anyone who disagrees with him. If he was running for dictator his experience might apply but he is running to head one branch of the government and even that one he doesn't control completely.

If I was trying to take shots at liberals I would have pointed out that Obama ran on stopping the gotcha politics of personal attacks and then had his press secretary take cheap personal shots at Palin even though she was not running for any office at the time. One of the other things we need to do is stop accepting ad hominem attacks when the attacks are directed at people we don't like or crying about the how violent and radical the other side is and while ignoring the much worse behavior on our own side. The hypocrisies of attacking the Tea Party and defending the OWS is the sort of BS petty politics we need to get away from. Either you oppose violent rhetoric and civil disobedience or you support it. Either is a valid position but the "I support it for my side but oppose it for your side" really isn't a valid position.
