The very use of the phrase "couldn't care less" means that you could care less, because if you really couldn't care less you wouldn't have even bothered to say so.

But "couldn't care less" really is the way it should be phrased, given how people intend it (which I know you know; I'm just sayin').

When it first came up in conversation, I asked the person what they meant and they said it means they couldn't care less. Cue the question about why they didn't just say they couldn't care less, and I got a blank stare in return
