And neither of us are illegal. And NONE of my work-mates were illegal. Fuck, they were all white farm boys/girls. There are many people in all those industries that are PERFECTLY LEGAL. But I'm not going to drag the "illegals stealing jobs" nonsense debate into this, because that's a whole new discussion.

And you know what, Aisha? That's all HER CHOICE. Maybe she should take her kids out of their private French School for some time, because we all know that's a totally necessary expense.

The fact of the matter is, though, everyone who's bitching about how they don't have a job? They aren't your friend. A lot of them are just bitching because they want jobs to fall into their lap wrapped in gold lace and silver ribbons. They went and got useless degrees and now don't want to "lower themselves" to menial labor.

And you know what, I feel for your friend. I really do. If for some reason all the veterinarian jobs evaporated (thank god I was smart enough to pick a field that ALWAYS has jobs), I'd totally understand. except I would go work at a dairy again, or get a job as a stable manager, or a show groom. Or be a dog groomer, or work as a consultant at a pet store. Or just start consulting, period. Or any number of jobs that I'd be qualified for but would be "Beneath" me.

Or you know what, if none of that was possible? I'd go to a community college and take some cooking/food courses. Then I'd go get a job as a line chef or a short order cook or something, and work my way up cooking. Or something else in the industry. Food is an interest of mine and it wouldn't be difficult for me to learn more about it to create a new career path for myself.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more options I find for myself. What a fun exercise. I feel like I'm not going to fail at life now. YAY!
