About a month ago now. It was about two months ago that things started getting bad, and I started putting in a serious effort to eat whatever she wanted to make. Things got better for a little while, but then she made risotto and I had a fair bit of difficulty with the taste. I ate it anyway, but when she mentioned wanting to make it again, I told her that I had found it difficult. Then, poof. All over. It sucks, but you can't choose what a person needs to be happy.
It's likely cold comfort right now, but if you were frequently fighting over food it would've been a miserable marriage after the novelty wore off... and then you'd have to deal with a divorce.
I've been getting over it by dedicating more time to self-improvement. I bought a recumbent exercise bike that I use for 40 minutes six days a week, and I bought a laptop to use for getting back into writing stories. And as much as it sucks that she's not around anymore, I have a great job and a good life, so I'm choosing to be happy with that. At least, I can say that now that I've had a month for perspective to settle in and for me to stop feeling so shitty about everything. :P
Sounds like you're doing really well, considering. I'm happy for you for that. Give it another few months, and you'll be in good shape to start dating again... with someone more sympathetic to your dietary needs, this time.
So it turns out that weddings are expensive...

Well, part of it is that the rehearsal dinner isn't on the $5k budget.

It is avoidable, but people will treat you like you're a nutcase if you don't do most of the things

Yeah, and that's why Russians are all dying of alcoholism. *NM*

You don't have to be an alcoholic to prefer not to have a cash bar at a party.

It is lame to expect the father of the bride to shell out tens of thousands for a party

If they're not close enough to invite to the reception, are they really needed at the ceremony?

In most cases, a church ceremony tends to be an open thing. Anyone can come.

Apparently it's becoming more common over here to do weddings on a weekday.

I can't imagine someone in America announcing their wedding was on a weekday.

Because if you put tiny plastic musical instruments on all the tables, your ears will bleed out.
