... averaging multiple polls together. My apologies if this has not been clear. Its been a rough couple of days and I fear we got down the wrong track here, away from my point, going down that road.

What I'm asking now is whether or not a small number of polls is sufficient to make estimations of trends or bias in the population.

That is where the small number of polls, data points comes into play.

My point is that two or three polls, measurements, is not enough to make future predictions. Nor is Joel's 136 polls enough to say that the population is biased towards one candidate or the other.
