He noted a Pennsylvania court that refused to let a man sit on a jury because he expressed the opinion that there was no God and therefore he was of "suspect moral character". In his analysis of religion in America, he sees the First Amendment as a guarantee that religious leaders not be political leaders, and cites numerous state constitutions that banned ordained priests and ministers from serving in public office. He also sees it as a guarantee against compulsion.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
