View original postMost Americans are no concerned about Canadian tourist getting billed when they come here and need emergency care. It does look like the couple was given excellent care with extraordinary measures taken to help them. Unless they are rich they will never pay this bill and will suffer little more then damaged credit. Outside of Moonies ravings I don't see how this is relevant.

If I understand you, people like me also can't come home w/o the risk of massive health bills. I'd rather not undergo the nightmare of ruined credit just for visiting my family/tourism, so I'm not sure it's such a good idea to dismiss travelers. There are a lot of emmigrants and ex-pats who have family and friends, so maybe somebody is thinking of them?
