In a way, the UK is twenty or more years behind the rest of Europe, in the sense that the FPTP system and some other factors have kept the BNP and the racism mostly below the radar so far, but now the BNP finally got some seats (in Europe at least, what with the no FPTP) and attention. It'll follow the example of its European colleagues like the Vlaams Blok/Belang, Front National, FPO and others, and slowly become more mainstream and more respectable. Here in Flanders, the VB is losing ground massively for the first time in, well, ever, as it has moved more towards the center while other parties have started talking about the problems of immigration and possible ways to solve it. Same story in France with Sarkozy regaining votes from the FN.
