My brother wants to, but... Missa Sedai Send a noteboard - 03/11/2009 11:18:20 PM
Did I read this right? Were you saying that you vacation with the parents of the vile ex-husband and that they approve of your brother and not of their son? If they are that good of terms then has your sister-in-law asked them how they would feel about your brother adopting their grandson? As long as they still had access to their grandson they might be okay with it. They might like something in writing though.

See, vile ex is the type who would block the adoption just to be a snit. He has had zero contact with the child for years, but my sister-in-law thinks that the ex would cause trouble for the adoption not out of love for the child, but for trouble's sake.

My husband was the child in that situation. He didn't think that just changing the name was good. He felt that adoption would be the better option.

:)

I agree, I think that adoption is the better bet and the name change should go hand-in-hand with adoption.

I'd only change the name if he adopted the son legally. - 03/11/2009 12:23:08 AM 759 Views
