Chances are he'll end up switching it on his own initiative. I've seen this happen twice among girls that I work with. But it should be up to the kid, otherwise he'll feel like it was forced.


When he is old enough to really care and choose for himself might be the time to do it. Then there will never be any question in his or anyone else's mind whether he was manipulated into it. I can't really explain why... but I think it meant more that Craig's dad waited until he was older to adopt him. By then there was no reason but love and respect, on both of their parts, for them to go through with an adoption.
