You're entitled to believe that. Joel Send a noteboard - 05/02/2010 07:31:07 PM
You said you watched so you must have noticed. Remember all those parts where you were agreeing with them?

For god sakes the closet they can come to letting in a republican view is Brooks.

Note you did imply that failure to admit bias was somehow relevant though to be honest I do sometimes have trouble understanding what your point actaully is.

I think it's very difficult and dangerous to their interests for any state operated media to display much bias, lest they run afoul of what Burlesconi (and Bush) tried when they didn't like what state media said about them. That said, in the days when Bill Moyers was still doing Now I think he did have a pretty clear left take, but then, that was easily fixed by driving him off the air.

The fact that I often agree that the facts they present are facts doesn't make them biased. In group discussions (there aren't a lot of interviews on the News Hour, and I recall none on Washington Week, ever) whether I agree often has a lot to do with whether it's a consumer or industry lobbyist speaking (and sometimes I think they're all idiots. )

To clarify my initial statement:

We may well question the veracity of a newssource with an obvious yet undeclared bias, but it seems axiomatic that programming proudly flaunting its bias is not objective. You or I can call out a newssource for claiming to be fair when they aren't, but when someone basically says, "Of course I'm not being fair, no kidding" there's not much question.
