And that is what the conservatives USED to try and conserve. For the most part in this countr, Liberals want more and bigger government and less freedom for individuals. Liberal became associated with left wing, social, marxist values about the same time conservative became associated with capitalism.


I agree that the 'Liberal' moniker has become associated with left wing and social values to some extent. It is the same sort of association that conservative has with theocracy and avarice. They are both broad generalizations that are as a whole untrue.

Do you really think that the term conservative is associated with capitalism or was that sarcasm? If someone asked me to name 10 characteristics of the term liberal, both left wing and social(ist) would be in that list. If someone asked me to name 10 characteristics of the term conservative, capitalism wouldn't even be on the horizon.
