My mother attended Catholic school in the 50's and 60's, and actually cited some of those concerns as why I wasn't in one myself, but I'm a firm supporter of catholic schools in their current form, and though loosely protestant, if I married a catholic I would not object to sending my kids to one, as they are now. I do believe that religion is for home or sunday school, not science class... however, one of the things that drove me away from atheism was that secularists often are not content to simply present facts and avoid religion, but often attack religion, and I do believe there are grounds to feel this often takes place in a public school, typically in the form of subtle ridicule.
