We know that a certain percentage of people I prison are innocent. Even considering the fact that in many of those cases the "innocent" person is likely guilty of other crimes there has to be a certain percentage of truly innocent people in prison. How many murders and rapist are you willing to turn loss on society to free these few innocents? Do we sacrifice these people’s futures future victims on the altar of good intentions?

We should strive to keep the system as fair and accurate as possible but that doesn't mean we need to cripple ourselves with guilt because we make mistakes. A better question is what is the alternative?

On a side note I think we could make the system better by clearing our courts of frivolous law suites and unproductive drug convictions.
