Talking purely hypothetically because there's just no way my children are going to daycare if I can help it. :P

If the parents agree then I don't see why smacking can't be used in a daycare situation. I think that's how it was at the daycare where my sister worked before her daughter was born.

The problem with comparing daycare and a home environment is that children behave differently in each place, and have different stimulation. A child is more likely to push boundaries at home because that's where a child is more comfortable. The usual reason for problems at daycare is interaction with other children, and that's fairly easily sorted by separating them. ;)
