5) Are loot and quest rewards level scaled, like in Oblivion? Will there be any powerful un-scaled items?

Bruce: We’re handling leveling stuff similar to how we did in Fallout 3, but with a few new twists that we hope players won’t even notice. The enemies and loot are based on the “encounter zone” you’re in, so it could be higher or lower level than your current level. We do have a new concept of epic or “special” loot that you can randomly find in many cases, regardless of the zone, and you will still get better stuff in the better zones with your level higher. Same goes for quest rewards. We try to make them appropriate for what you did. Sometimes that is random, sometimes that is a set item. There’s a lot of specific stuff that is very powerful, like the Daedric artifacts.

Judging by that, I'm not entirely certain what it'll be like... But apparently a mix, with some scaled items, some set items, and some random items? And some of the random items being really powerful? I think I'll have to play the game in order to decide if they went about this the right way or not.

The answer to question 9 is encouraging though. Oblivion's UI was atrocious, to say the least. Fixing that is already a major bonus for Skyrim.

That is very encouraging, actually. I would have to have my PC version look the same as a console after dropping so much money. I really think developers need to lead with PC's. Consoles are nice and all but seriously, players should expect lower res and less performance out of a console. That's what you get for spending a half to a quarter of the price.
Go Hokies!

CS/CpE. Yay engineering!

Not sure if this has been told here or not but Skyrim is going to be a port for the PC - 26/10/2011 03:26:57 PM 881 Views

I'm just concerned if it will have that Oblivion feel to it - 26/10/2011 04:09:22 PM 543 Views
Yeah, that's why they keep dumbing it down. - 26/10/2011 04:26:57 PM 566 Views
At least PC players get mods to fix the terrible decisions like level scaling and bad UI. Oh well. - 26/10/2011 08:35:54 PM 716 Views

Or they could just design a game that includes dangers you can't overcome. - 26/10/2011 09:22:09 PM 577 Views
I don't entirely disagree. - 26/10/2011 09:43:19 PM 606 Views

I'm more interested in item scaling than enemy level scaling - 26/10/2011 09:53:55 PM 546 Views
I'm not sure. - 26/10/2011 10:07:54 PM 548 Views

Did Fallout 3 and New Vegas have Level scaling? - 27/10/2011 08:40:54 AM 504 Views
They had more tightly controlled and modified scaling. - 27/10/2011 05:53:30 PM 660 Views
