I'm a christian and I found some parts offensive. However, at the same time I rationalized it all away. I do find upside down crosses, satanic rituals, and blasphemous tirades by demons offensive, and yet at the same time what more could one expect walking through hell? I had the same when I played Doom, but it's part of the package.
The game publishes an extremely vicious Old Testament version of Christianity, but only because it's based so closely on the Divine Comedy. For instance, one of the monsters in hell are babies that attack you - and they are babies that were never baptized. That in its self is offensive to me.
If you enjoy being a Holy Warrior, this is the game for you

It was the Christian imagery that turned me off, oddly enough

This is why it's ironic that EA mocked the idea of Religious games, and used it as PR for the game.

I think it's that the game takes itself so seriously. I LOVE Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter
