Unfortunately, the paywall prevents me from reading the WSJ article. Vodalus Send a noteboard - 04/06/2017 01:33:22 AM

However, the snippets of that article found in the Townhall piece made it clear enough to see what's so objectionable about the Paris Agreement.

As to Bjorn Lomborg, I liked the podcast interview he did - at first. After watching the PragerU video though, I kind of came to figure him for being a bullshitter in it for the money, fracking money. It turns out that PragerU is not an academic institution, accredited or otherwise. It's an American conservative digital media organization. The part about fracking being a green energy innovation was pure fucking gold. I laughed. Then there's the matter of what Lomborg has paid himself at "think tanks" he's founded. He's got a good thing going, to be sure. But let's remember that he's a political scientist, not a real scientist. All his liberal trappings aside, which make him a great face for what he's doing, he's looking out for number one. No crime there, but it renders his thoughts on the subject to be viewed with no small amount of doubt.

The WSJ article Tom posted I had read and thought was thoughtful and true. That, and the main link below and the link in the next paragraph pretty much sum up my thoughts on the Paris climate agreement. They might not align exactly with my considered thoughts on the matter, but they're pretty close. The NYT link in my main post was just the first link I came to when Trump announced his decision.

Here, too, is another link to an article with which I am very much in agreement: https://goo.gl/9RcRf6

(it is from a rightist news site called "Townhall' which has some columnists I like, but some freakin' RABIDLY rightist and/or ignorant people who comment there, so try to avoid the comment sections! LOL )

To those "rest-of-the-worlders" out there: I don't care what the rest of the world is doing. That doesn't make them correct, it just makes them part of a pack. I always notice people who like to preach about what Europe does (and what we should, presumably, be using a model for our own behavior) never like to talk about many of the other issues on which we don't agree, re: free speech, abortion restrictions, etc. We're all taught as children that "but so and so is doing it" is not really a good rationale for taking an action ourselves.
