But!
We are in agreement that more freedom and more career choice will cause some industries to be more populated with women and some industries to be more populated with men.
But how men became so dominant in Software design is not just "natural influences" and freedom. No we have several things that "encourage men" to code both now in the present but especially so in the 1970s to 1980s that cause the shift from women coders to more men coders, to the point men dominate the industry. These are structural influences and not just the "natural way things are." Why is it okay for men to get these structural influences but women to not get structural influences as well? Why can't we have a counter structural reformation?
Human society is not a purely organic thing by design, human society purposefully creates feedback mechanisms for that is the nature of humans and human culture.
What is reasonable after all is all about ratio, is the benefits worth the investment. The benefits in getting more women into coding and creating a different atmosphere where coding is more cooperative has many benefits not just in getting more women to code but also to prevent problems from occurring in the first place with the first version of any software you are designing. Software work is a team exercise and often your assumptions are baked into the product and thus a team that views the angle from multiple points of view and is encouraged to do so actually finds better ways at solving the problem but also having less "errors" and "mistakes" that we thought were only obvious in hindsight but in reality foresight could have seen them.
