In Season 1, the actor playing Bernard did a great job of expressing a range of emotion. In Season 2, because he was supposed to be "confused" or whatever because his memories have been taken out of sequence, he ends up looking the same in every single scene and it's terrible acting. Period. It has nothing to do with the fucking character. It's about the actor doing a shitty job of varying responses.
So your problem is not the existential angst but the acting of the existential angst? Put another way your problem is not the moral quandary that Bernard was in with Season 2, but instead you just did not like the acting involved with the moral quandary? Aka stuff like facial movements, tonal inflections and so on?
Okay if I understand your complaint, I can 100% agree with that. Jeffrey Wright was "singing" with his acting in Season 1, but in Season 2 much of the acting was phoning it in and not his best work.

Sidenote, you caused me to have another question which I made as a separate response to the main post (so it is easier for others to see.)
