What, in the very comprehensive and interesting reply you gave, makes you question that Putin would want Trump to kowtow to him and weaken NATO?

Means and methods are yet to be proven conclusively, of course, but the motive for Russia to interfere to make sure Hillary doesn't win and Trump does is right there in your post. As is the motive for wanting to weaken NATO dramatically. So I'm a little confused at your argument that people are wrongly assuming they know what Putin wants. Seems pretty clear we don't see it differently, but you do have a more in-depth understanding of why he wants what he wants.
