Those races are not against others but against yourself, so everyone who makes it to the finish line is a winner. Well done!

Too bad I couldn't make it to the starting line for today's mere 6 miler: got pulled over for speeding and it took so long that I would have missed the start window so I had to turn back (it was a 100 km drive to the race and I had 50 minutes after the cop was done writing the ticket after 5-10 minutes)

But yeah, when you're battling the elements and fatigue like that, just the ability to finish can be amazing afterwards; in the moment, it's hard to think beyond fight or flight.
