DACA was an act of the Imperial Presidency. It was not a law passed by Congress.
Do these individuals have a 'right' to reside here? They have Presidential directive and the courts for now. Their long term existence in the US is precarious.
Do I believe these children - now adults - who were brought here should be allowed to stay? Yes, but with serious conditions. And with additional laws stating that no other children will ever get the same kind of treatment again. These people are now part of the wider immigration debate.
You can bring in emotions. You can bring in morals. Do whatever you want. I don't honestly care to continue to debate this with you as I find your view not based enough on laws so please enjoy the last reply - if you feel the need to do so.
I respect your difference of opinion and I think in the actual implementation of our ideal state we are very close to each other if not the exact same place.
We are arguing over words for words are how we communicate and how we arrive at our difference of opinion comes from different places even if we have very similar beliefs of what the end result should be. (Some form of DACA like thing with a probation like effect where break the probation and we will kick you out of the US.)
I brought in emotions and I brought in morals for they are what seperates these 4 different words.
Unlawful, Illegal, Illicit, and Criminal. These are 4 different legal concepts entirely. These now adults (who were brought here illegally as children) did not perform a crime, their parents did, but they do not have the culpable mind to escalate an unlawful act (illegal act also applies) to a criminal act for the difference between illegal and criminal.
And besides what the law actually says we have reasons why we have the distinction between illegal-illicit-and criminal and why we escalate from 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 has entirely to do with "morality" for we are saying the law is trying to push some form of good that the Constitution or the various state constitution says is a duty, an obligation of government.

Thank you for giving me the last reply I was seriously considering not taking up your offer but I felt it was my duty / obligation to explain why this is important to me.
I also agree you should not participate in a debate if you do not care for, that too is your freedom / libre.
