and dare I say most conversations, aren't about changing someone's mind. That person shared their thoughts, and then I said that I disagreed. I followed that statement up with not everything in this world can be split along such lines of "either this or that".

The other person started to get rather worked up over it. I did not, which seemed to upset them even more.

Not every conversation has to have an ending we find satisfactory, an ending is an ending after all. Something something Aristotle in his theory of Drama said we consider stories better if their is a reconciliation to the drama, that there is a catharsis.
But reality doesn't have to be that way, you can be calm and non perturbed and she can be the person who works herself into a lather but never gets a resolution to her feelings.
