That I would walk away? Or that I would acquiesce?

I can't speak for you Mookie, you are a mixed kind of being, which is a mixture of wonder and vice. You must make the decision yourself, and no matter what you choose there is always the path you walk away from, the other choice you did not make has value just like the choice you made.

I can't speak for you. But I know what my decision is. Claims and Obligations are two sides of the same coin. (I am referencing William James essay the short story is based off of, The Moral Philosopher and the Moral Life.) Well this seems hopeless does it not? All these claims and obligations? The solution though is to recognize that the true moral person is to struggle with these issues, and to find joy in the struggle instead of hopelessness. Only by engaging the struggle can we find true satisfaction.

In the past Mookie I have recommended some media that you should view / listen to. Well let me re-recommend two things I have recommended in the past. And let me recommend a new one, a third.

1) The Sopranos tv show by David Chase (and others.) It just turned 20 in the last week.

I know Mookie you do not have HBO but go to a local public library ( supported by your tax dollars ) and take Chara 's joy ( joy, gladness, a source of joy) at this wonderful show, that wonderful Charis (grace / favor / kindness) that your "obligated" tax dollars created and is now a Charity (see the wordplay, or is this Greek to you ). Use that library money you have already paid and watch some HBO. Something something Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and Be Glad something something.

2) Jonathan Haidt's The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion

Here is the new one, and it is a short listen, which is free.
3) Confessions of a Recovering Libertarian, The Bulwark Podcast, Episode January 15th, 2019 (aka yesterday.) https://overcast.fm/+P7BpdaXzo

Yes I am completely insufferable in my answers, but that is the nature of this world. To suffer. Yet for some reason when we suffer, (points above to the top of the thread) we think we are right, in our suffering.
