Clearly the many articles from various prominent centre-left publications that did indeed discuss how wrong the initial reporting was, aren't good enough for you. So what will it take, then? Who, in your mind, speaks for 'the Left'?

The Left, to a whole lot of people, is the lowest interpretation of the lowest possible opinion they can find to satisfy their biased view that the left is always wrong. Which, then, is exactly what they thing "the Left" does to their in-group.

Not just center-left, but even left of center publications have been spending considerable ink lambasting the quick rush to judgment, if not necessarily exnerating either side. To the point where all the teeth gnashing over this is starting to grate. But that isn't enough, clearly...
