I noted a point of oddity in retconning names. I have no idea what genital arrangements Emmet & Sylas have and their peculiar equivocation about things Sylas brings up. I don't know or care what's up between them, but Sylas is the one who brought it up, but used abnormal terminology. I have a feeling it's a thing like the joke "How can you tell if someone's vegan?" "Don't worry, they'll tell you."
But on the topic, why change names? If your chromosomes don't get to define your gender, why should the gender society assigns to an arrangement of letters be such a defining characteristic that you have to change them? Why NOT be a boy called Sue?
