Never waste a good crisis is an indictment when groups are using the crisis to drive an agenda that would have no chance in hell under ordinary circumstances.
And this is a problem how? By this logic, someone responding to a large fire by asking for more fire extinguishers is never wasting a good crisis too, then? If so, aren't they...ummm... Correct? Or would you rather another fire?
Finally on traffic stops. Most cops will tell you that's one of the scariest parts of the job. You never know when someone in the car has a weapon, especially with tinted glass at night. You couldn't pay me enough to approach a pulled-over car as an unarmed civilian.
Yes, and this would be highly relevant if there was a need to stop cars for traffic violations, instead of letting cameras show you their license plate and you can send them a bill for a broken taillight, a non-functional breaklight, or whatever.
For edge cases like obvious drunk driving or speeding well beyond the limit, it makes no sense to give regular cops either the guns or the responsibility to deal with them if they also have to handle regular incidents. Just break the two up completely.
