You're paying attention to the literal meaning of the symbols the Trump campaign used. If his direct words shouldn't be taken literally, the same should apply to his symbols. If he tattoos a swastika on his forehead and "I Love Hitler" on his chest, you'd be a fool to call him out on it. It'd be an ironic statement on the anti-free speech practices of the left. Or whatever is bugging the Trump defender du jure you're conversing with.
