If it helps you any, I'm not a total normal. The Shrike Send a noteboard - 13/10/2020 01:29:20 AM

Also, I am really sorry to hear of your issues.

After a couple of choking incidents, I had an endoscopy done and it was discovered I have rings in my esophagus. Essentially my body reacts to certain allergens (and liquid milk) by producing too many white blood cells that then harden into rings in my esophagus. So instead of a normal smooth surface, I have rings going down my esophagus that cause me to have to chew my food really carefully and slowly and avoid said allergens. If not, I can choke again and may need to go to the ER. The choking part is quite literally scary as all hell because even though I am not in danger of dying, but the body still reacts horribly. And there are times I eat food only to feel that food is sticking because the rings are there after and I basically stop eating. The stopping liquid milk part has been hard also (coffee was the only time I consumed liquid milk so I have discovered a world of alternatives that mostly suck). But some things that are not quite liquid are also a problem. Like yogurts. Ice cream sometimes. I can still consume cheese though. This auto immune disease is called Eosinophilic Esophagitis.

So nope, I am not a normal.
