Agreed - keeping the identity of the Dragon a mystery so long has proven to be a really bad choice, because it kept them from properly developing the main plot line. And sadly many of their smaller choices weren't too great either.

Either they make it a central mystery and reveal properly, or just make it known from the start. Now it was just Rand going "oh, I just realised it's me. Let's go".
