The downside was always contingent on the search warrant coming up empty, or with nothing of real consequence. If, as is being reported, he had classified documents related to nuclear weapons, that is of real consequence.

As Roland pointed out, it is amusing that Trump strengthened the laws around mishandling of classified documents during his Presidency. How ironic if this is what takes him down.


Yes. And it's even more ironic that one contributor to Trump's success in 2016, though my no means the only one, was based on Clinton having done something similar but not with classified/sensitive material. Only strengthens the case for us being trapped in some twisted reality being controlled by someone with a taste for irony and dark humor.
