Everyone remembers Aikman, Smith & Irvin. What they forget is that Dallas had Nate Newton (1986), Kevin Gogan (1987), Mark Stepnoski & Steve Wisniewski (1989) and Erik Williams (1991) throughout their early 90s dynasty. All five went to at least one Pro Bowl, and while Gogan left after the second win, that year they drafted Ron Stone, and Larry Allen the following year, following Stepnoski's departure. They built a strong line, and were doing so before acquiring any of their famous trio of ball handlers, and continued maintaining the line as their string of degeneracy and officially-sanctioned dirty play remarkable and not all media inflated success continued.

Funny how that works. Assemble the best OL in the league and your offense has success. Kind of like the 2024 Eagles and Saquon getting over 2,000 yards. Then in 2025, injuries and age diminished the line and suddenly he wasn't so dominant anymore. Must be correlation/causation fallacy, right?

The interesting thing is what they are going to do with the #10 pick they got from trading Not-So-Sexy Dexy.

Yes. Bucky Brooks from NFL.com has them using both picks on offensive skill players: Love and Tyson. He had them taking Shadeur last year so I'm not too concerned.

I would be happy with two defensive players. Or one and an offensive lineman. Or a trade back with either one for more picks.

Much as I liked Dexy, he played last season like he wanted to be somewhere else. I'm fine with sending him to the other league and with the return. Lets see how involved he stays in Cinci. They only gave him one extra year. I can see the scenario repeating.
