I do see it that way because she never did say "Yes," in any way. Based on the portrayal on screen, her face/body language/everything was saying, "No." It wasn't brutal or explicit, but it was definitely not consensual.


I agree that it gives people who haven't read the books the wrong initial impression, I just don't think that what was shown on screen ruins it for those of us who have. The scene from the show wasn't consensual, no, but nor was the scene in the books until the very end. If you read the scene from the books and stop before you read the last sentence, you have a scene very much as was described on screen.

Anyway, hopefully they'll have a flashback or something so that people who are new to the story won't think Drogo and Dany's relationship is based on an unbelievable foundation, but. . .eh. I'm still ok with it. I know what "really" happened, and the show didn't contradict that, it just stopped a little short.
