Doesn't make too much sense. Did the book give some additional details/context to why the cut "festered" so much?
Drogo died from a nasty wound to his chest taken in battle that became infected. Not a small cut as the show would have you believe.
Drogo took down two Khal's in combat to earn that wound, and IIRC in the book it was a rather large, nasty cut that left a large hunk of flesh hanging loose. Infecting to the point of death seemed more plausible in the book than in the show.
Didn't the witch exacerbate the wound so it would kill him in revenge for destroying her village and enslaving her people?
