How is there "No Song?" newyorkersedai Send a noteboard - 09/05/2010 12:44:22 AM
A Song was used in the AoL to promote healthy, blight-free, crop growth. That song involved Ogier, Aiel, and Nym. Tinkers are modern-day descendants of the Aiel. The present-day Tinkers seek a Song that is important to them, a song which they think they "lost." The Tinkers feel that this Song is important to them and the world.
It seems fairly clear that the Song they are seeking is the Song that their predecessors sang. This is way more "intuitively obvious" than the identity of Asmodean's killer.
Yes, SINT made some mistakes in his/her/its post. Yes, Ogier are not artificial. Yes, Nym were "made" by humans in the AoL. Still, we don't know anything about how they reproduce. It's possible that the Green Man managed to "plant" a new one. It's also possible that one is in a stasis box.
Those latter two points are not necessary to support what I'm saying, but I felt I should still comment.
In any case, I do not understand why folks claim that there is no Song...
