The wording fits pretty well with my interpretation that Asmo was mortally wounded by a poisoned bolt he took, and then Slayer took him to TAR where Asmo gave this last breath.
And it would explain RJ's how and where factors on why the DO can't bring Asmo back.

I disagree that TAR death is the "where" factor ... as DomA mentioned, Ishamael died in TAR and was transmigrated successfully. So why would Asmodean be any different? The distance from SG combined with BF makes more sense to me.
I just think the Slayer stories have to go too far into the realm of speculation to make sense. With that said he's the only other viable alternative I see to Graendal.
Domani Drag Queen in the White Tower ... Aran'gar watch out!
I am determined to prove, before it's revealed, that Lanfear killed Asmodean.

IMO, the difference is that Ishy was strongly connected to the DO, when he died in TAR. *NM*

But Ishy channeled the TP; thus the DO was more aware of him in TAR. *NM*

I don't see how that really makes a difference

At least Asmo didn't channel the TP, when he died; this could be the difference to Ishy. *NM*

Well, the TP is not related to who killed Asmo, in my view
