I'm inclined to think the a'dam stops Dream Walking darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 26/05/2010 09:26:20 PM

I've thought of this before, but would like someone to show me some evidence to counter or accept it, or generally provide a statement on what you think...

You're tied to a pole. You dream yourself into TAR. You Travel to the place where you've tied yourself. You free yourself.

Is there anything that contradicts this? We know that you can channel and Travel in TAR.

Err. So if I understand your question correctly:

1.You are tied to a pole in the real world.
2.You fall asleep and enter TAR
3.In TAR, you go to the place where you are tied in the real world.
4.In TAR, you release yourself.
5.This releases you in the real world.

For that to work, changing the environment in TAR would require a change in the real world too. I don't think thats the case, or is it? If it is then in theory that might work.

I mean that you Travel out of TAR using a gateway. Your ethereal self then frees you.

Interesting thought, but I think if you tried to leave TAR in "spirit form" you would either just wake up back in your body, or perhaps die.

I'm inclined to go with a nasty option - like die. There are some applicable situations to this. Assuming the a'dam doesn't stop dreamwalking (and that's a big if), Moghedien could dreamwalk, exit TAR and murder Asmodean. As an example.

If it didn't Moghedien would have found a Black Sister and gotten herself free... or would have pulled Nynaeve or Elayne into TAR at some point and gotten revenge ... too many options for her if it didn't stop her.

But it seems likely that death or madness akin to Machin Chin eating your soul would be the outcome if you left TAR in Spirit form.
